Artistic Biography

Roberto Páramo was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and is the grandson of Roberto Páramo Tirado, a distinguished painter and former Director of the School of Fine Arts of Bogotá for more than twenty years. As a result, he was immersed in art and culture from an early age.

At the age of twelve, driven by his own curiosity and passion for painting, he began studying perspective through Leonardo da Vinci’s Treatise on Painting, which he discovered in his family’s library.

Being too young to be admitted to the School of Fine Arts, he received guidance and instruction from several of his grandfather’s students. By the time he reached the age required for admission, he had already developed an advanced understanding of art and painting. He chose to continue his artistic education independently, although he rejects the label “self-taught,” believing it would diminish the invaluable guidance, knowledge, and inspiration he received from the many artists to whom he remains deeply grateful.

Páramo’s works are part of private collections throughout the Americas and Europe. He has lived in Miami for more than twenty years, where he continues to develop and refine a body of work that has evolved significantly throughout his artistic journey.
